The Young family hails from Austin, Texas, and they always knew a doodle would be part of their lives. Growing up with a goldendoodle, they had seen how smart, playful, and social these dogs could be. Years later, after meeting a sheepadoodle at Zilker Park, they knew exactly what kind of pup they wanted to bring home one day.
So, when it came time to find a breeder, the Youngs did their homework. They looked at many options across Texas but kept coming back to Howdy Doodles. What stood out most was the family-centered approach and the way the puppies were introduced to new sights and sounds right from the start. It gave them confidence that their future pup would come home ready to adjust to everyday life and plenty of adventures. The day they brought Scuttlebutt Mango Mae (such a fun and creative name!) home is still one of their favorite memories. The pickup process felt calm and thoughtful, giving them the chance to ask questions without feeling hurried. That drive home was the beginning of something special for their family.
At first, Scuttlebutt was a little cautious and liked her space, but over time she has become the kind of dog who follows her people everywhere. She is sassy, gentle, and silly all at once. She loves cuddling with pillows, keeping everyone in the same room, and enjoying small treats like Greek yogurt and peanut butter. On the weekends, she has turned into a true Texan lake dog, always eager to jump in the water or ride along on the boat. Her personality has continued to shine in little ways that keep the Youngs smiling. She has strong herding instincts that show up when someone wanders off. She is happiest when she can gather her people together, whether that is during playtime with her littermate next door or on long walks through Austin.
Looking back on their time with Scuttlebutt so far, the Youngs can point to many favorite memories. They think of her first swim in the lake, when she paddled with so much excitement. They remember her joy running in circles off-leash at Zilker Park. They even recall the time she flew on an airplane and, nervous during the landing, climbed into their laps for comfort. Through it all, Scuttlebutt has brought laughter and connection to their home, making their family life just a little brighter.
